This is a prequel to my Wafa ka Bewafa article.
LOVE STORY 99- SCHOOL “LOVE” SELDOM IS FORGOTTEN- PART I
I was lying curled under my bed sheet. Just then I heard the bathroom door of my room open. God she looked beautiful! 15 years later, not much has changed. For a moment, the thought of Hannah did cross my mind- but well- just a moment. The beauty and her fragrance that filled the room was enough for me to forget the fact that I was married.
I can’t believe I just made out with this girl. Someone I met 15 years ago, someone I never thought would even have coffee with me; leave alone enter into a relationship of any kind.
I was in Ninth Grade when I met her first. I still remember the chain of events around the meeting.
Venue: Auxilium Convent High School Auditorium
Seminar on AIDS Awareness
This was one of the rare lectures where all students listened with rapt attention. And the typical backbenchers did not mind occupying the front rows. AIDS Awareness was mandatory in most schools for students of Grade IX. And well, how could we complain??!! So here we had a packed auditorium- No student caught flu or complained of headache etc. on this day.
For the first time in our youth, we were going to hear someone talk about…err…sex. I still recall we had teachers uncomfortable with explaining the human genital system in Biology. We never blamed her. Ours was a boys’ convent and the boys never could have been considered boys!
We waited for Father Joseph to finish his boring speech and let the “expert” come up on the dais.
“Hi Friends! I am glad to see all of you here. And I hope I do justice to your time away from your lectures here. ..”
He went on and on explaining things- some we knew and some myths cleared. I was seated on the twelfth row between my best buddies then-Aryan Bhattacharya and Jag- aka Jagmit Singh Sodhi. The “expert” threw the floor open for questions. We sure had many, but none had the guts to stand up ad ask- for fear of being harassed by the peers. Now, myself, Aryan and Jag had a pretty good time in school- from looking at bikini clad models' pics hidden in textbooks to admiring some of the teachers’ themselves- we had our share of fun. And we sure talked a lot about our sexuality. But a couple of doubts still lingered on our minds.
“ You ask na?” Aryan was pushing Jag.
“Main kyun poochu?”
“sssh..speak in English” That was the jerk Murthy-also our class representative!
I decided none of them are going to ask, and the questions would be unanswered for ever! I stood up with all the strength and walked past all the rows of students sitting in front of me, went on to the stage and somehow stammered my question-
“IS…Is….Uhh…Is Over…um..o-over m-mas-turbation a problem..?”
The whole auditorium fell silent. No hisses or private chats- Just open mouths! I felt I had just uttered something blasphemous to shock the masses…
“No…” The expert said smiling. “But any thing in excess should be checked, right?”
I just nodded my question. Honestly, he confused me more.I didn’t walk away, I tried to muster strength to ask another question- the bigger one! I tried not to look in Aryan-Jag’s direction.
“umm..What….What exactly is the..G Spot?”
A lot of the boys did not even know what the f**k was I talking about. Me and Aryan read it in a HEALTH Magazine three weeks ago. This question even surprised the “expert”. I am pretty sure he did not expect this question from a young man barely sixteen!
He did answer the question. The courage paid off. Boys from lower classes got to know of the wealth of knowledge the three of us had, and we were more than proud to give some “GYAAN”.
Little did I know the answer the “expert” gave would be so useful so soon! Me Aryan and Jag got selected for the Annual Science Project- and our team’s topic was- AIDS Awareness!!!

I LIVE FOR YOU
A poem written with all my heart. For who? well..it's never important to know !
I LIVE FOR YOU
Listen to my heart, It beats your name
It'll stop beating if I never see you again
Look into my eyes, they are looking for you...
Their search for the perfect woman has ended with you!
I'm waiting for you...Always waiting for you...
Don't give up on me, I live for you.
Come near me and let my lips be touched by you ..
They've gone dry in the thirst for you!
Laugh with me again, let's laugh all day
For I can laugh my heart out only with you
I'm waiting for you...Still waiting for you...
Don't give up on me, I live for you.

Wafa Ka Bewafa- Epilogue
Rain came back two weeks later. I was a mess by then. I narrated this entire incident to her. Minus some things which I had to keep from her. For the time being, at least. While we did go around fro a couple of months, we realized we were better off as friends.
Rain is today married to a Scottish colleague of hers who works in the same company as hers. She is settled in Finland. 6 Tonne will celebrate his 5th wedding anniversary in December. As for me, I got married last year to Hannah..urf..Haneefa. Yes, the girl who was sloshed enough to sleep on my floor. We met again after college in a salsa class. And with Rain away, we got closer till the "love" culminated in our marriage. My Dad and Mom no longer talk to me for I married a Muslim. Hannah must now be having 'mussaffar'- a special medicinal recipe given to pregnant women. Yes, it was her 7th month. And that meant I'm alone at home, for their tradition doesn't allow her to come home till forty days after delivery.
I got in touch in with Riya a.k.a Wafa again. Thanks to Orkut and Facebook! She is in a live-in relationship there with a former colleague at Bisys Hedge Funds based in New York.We exchanged numbers again on chat. What prompted my thoughts to into flash back was a text from her this evening :
'Hey..Carl gone to Australia for a month. I would be flying down to Mumbai for some work. Looking forward to meet you...Been a long time.."
I am not sure what the last line was for, but the temperature in the room sure shot up!
THANKS ..And Hope you liked my story...Feel free to mail me :

Wafa Ka Bewafa- One of my weird Love Stories -The End of the Beginning
'What could possibly be wrong with Rain? And why would she not pick up my call and cut the other line. Unless it's from her parents.' My mind was engulfed with thoughts that I hated. Finally, in yet another attempt, she did pick up my call.
"Haan Bol Ramm..."
"Oye..where are you? Been calling you since morning!"
"that depends...on how you define morning...hahaha"
"hmm..Lunch together?"
"Umm..No yaar..I have to pack my things."
"what? Where are you going? Why are you.."
"Arre..Thand rakh! I'm going to Chandigarh- told you na about my cousin's wedding?"
I just nodded my head to say I remember. I frankly didn't understand why I felt awkward from within. Is it because probably for the first time she turned down my request for something? OR...I didn;t want to fret over it.
I gave her a big hug and kissed her lovely cheek and said," take care Rain, Am going to miss you"
"Ya..I am sure..lol"
I called my dear brother and friend 6 Tonne...
" Abe saale,Ben****...Hai kidhar tu? Zinda hai..I thought mar gaya..."
"You ass**le! Where are you?"
"Ulta chor kowtal ko daante! Kaminey, I am on roaming. Will call you later, ok?"
"roaming? Where the f**k are you?"
"Gujarat- dad's business work. Catch ya later bro..sorry..bye.."
Sometimes you are faced with a situation in life where you have umpteen number of friends and a handful of really close buddies; but none around you when you somehow need them the most. This moment was one of them. I just went back home. I watched TV whilst relishing Chicken Tandoori- otherwise forbidden in my Brahmin household. Times passed by and it was already 18:00. I went to the gym in the basement and showered before getting ready to pick up Riya.
I decided I would wear formal attire. I put on a striped blue Austin Reed shirt and donned a Black Blackberry semi formal coat and trousers to go with it. The signature Azzaro perfume again, and black Moreschi shoes, I was all ready for another date. I took Dad's Merc to pick her up. As I waited leaning proudly against the sedan, I saw Riya coming out of her apartment in a stunning Orange Silhoutte Tank Asymmetrical dress. The neck was just low enough to drop jaws wide open, but not slutty at the same time. The dress was just a couple of inches above the knee. The dress hugged her tender narrow waist.
I took her hand and kissed it like a typical gentleman. She just smiled. I surprised her by parking my car at the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower.
"But we were to.." I just leaned over and kissed her to prevent her from saying anything. Wow! This was like in the movies!
We walked hand in hand as I guided her to the SOUK-One of the finest places I have dined at. We loved the Sheesh Touk, even as we relished on many other types of Kebabs recommended to us. All this rich food along with Dom Perignon! Sure this is the most I had ever spent- splurged would be the correct term. But while I watched Riya close her eyes enjoying the Bakhlawa, I thought of the dessert that lay in store for me.
We wasted not much time in getting home, and even lesser time to find our way to my bedroom. Her Silhoutte Tank dress lay in the arms of my Blackberrys, just as we lay in each other's arms. My Azzaro, rather a million of them were no match for the scent of this woman. I never felt so intoxicated.
"Dil TOh PAgal Hai..." That was my special ringtone for Rain. But how? I checked the time- 01:30- its not that she doesn't call this late, but this time, her timing wasn't as good. I picked up anyways.
"Yes Rain..."
"KYA Kar Raha HAi??" She whispered.
"Err...nothing yaar..you reached safe?"
"yaa, that's how I am talking to you na dumbo!"
"Ramm..who's it?" Riya called out.
"You are with someone?"
"Err...Umm.." I just blabbered.
"Ok Ok...Um...Enjoy...Call you tomorrow.." And Rain just hung up. Something didn't happen right.
'RAMM"
"Coming..."
"who was it?" She asked when I joined her in bed. I just started caressing her to avoid eye contact and said "My friend yaa..Renu"
"Oh..your Rain? The one who misses you? (She giggled saying that)"
"You know what I am missing now?"
"What?..." She realised..she tried to escape the bed..not really...but love making is not fun without these games. I couldn't believe I used the word love making even in my mind.
That night was just one of the many moments we spent together. Tonne was in Ahmedabad and Rain in Chandigarh. I never missed mom dad, for Riya moved in quite a few of her dresses in my room. It was almost a live in. Till one day...that dreaded day..
Riya didn't call me for two days. 48 hours of separation seemed unbearable! Her cell phone was switched off as well. I finally decided to let go of my ego and went to Riya's house. I just parked my bike outside her gate and was about to go in when I realized- I didn't even know which floor she lives on! I asked the watchman;
"Riya madam kaunse floor pe rehti hai?"
"Riya madam?? Kaun Riya Madam?"
I was a bit taken aback. Maybe he was new. "Arre, woh hai na, beautiful si, ek room mate ke saath rehti hai...Aanchal.."
"Saab, Yahan koi Aanchal ya Riya nahi rehti..."
"Arre..I picked her up from here many times...Kya bakwaas karte ho?"
'Ajeeb aadmi hai..Kuch pata nahi aa jaate hain kahi se bhi" he murmured to himself.
What was happening? Why wasn't the watchman recognising her? I was damn sure I picked her up from the same place. Unless I was seeing things...imagining things...Oh My God..Nothing could have gone worse! No Riya- if she existed- No Rain- No Tonne...I was left all alone in the middle of the desert!
A whole fourteen days later, 'Riya' called. I let the phone ring at least 11 times as I saw her name flash. I was simply exasperated by the turn of events. Finally, I picked her call...
"Hel'low? Ramm...Please talk to me sweetheart. Let me explain. Please, can I come in?"
"what do you mean by come in?"
"I am at your door. Please let me come and explain."
Whatever made me open the door, I don't know. But in hindsight, I should have asked her to go away that moment. She came in. She was wearing a sleeveless pink Punjabi Salwar Kameez. I stood in front of her with folded hands, my eyes showering a volley of questions at her.
"Ramm..I..I'm sorry..I"
"Why did the watchman at the gate not recognize you? Why did he say you don't live there?"
She took a deep breath and sighed. She looked down as she answered: "Ramm, I do live there. But my name is not Riya, so he didn't recognise me."
"W.H.A.T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I felt like being caught in shelling fire.
'Look Ramm..you.you may not forgive me. But I couldn't have trusted anyon with my real identity. Still, there was some force that attracted me towards you, so I took the risk of meeting you. I do like you. And enjoy being with you. But..let's admit it. You really are in love with your Rain. She calls, then you talk about you and Rain ki kahaani for minutes..hours at times. You left me alone in the bed to console her over a stupid issue.."
"it wasn't a stupid issue Rain..i mean..Riya.."
"See..."
"But where were you these days?" I aksed, still wild at her.
"US- I got a call from a University for the final interviews. I stayed over there then with my Uncles.And.....I got selected..I..Ramm.."
"And more importantly, if you are not Riya, what's your name?"
"Wafa..Wafa Khorakiwala. This time it's true. One hundred percent."
Riya ..Sorry..Wafa left soon after. I tried my level best to get in touch with Rain. I realized of all the lies this wafa thing spoke, this was true- I probably did like Rain. But Rain, being busy with the marriage ceremony of her cousin, didn't have the phone with her. I missed her, and I texted her that.

Wafa Ka Bewafa- One of my weird Love Stories Part VII
The watchmen at my gate obviously knew me well. Quite a few of my friends happen to be girls. And not to mention I had two girlfriends before who knew every inch of my room. I tipped this guy a tenor or more once in a while, plus a fifty each time I walked in with a girl. Imagine what we go through to hide from our parents the very activities that they would one day encourage us to go ahead and do- only under the auspice of marriage.
As we entered our house,I took every opportunity to get up close to her...touching her shoulder on the pretext of leading her to a room or holding her hands to show her the way to the little balcony. She didn't seem to mind, and I didn't bother to ask if she did.
"What a sprawling house! Your father must be minting money to own this sort of an apartment in South Bombay."
" Yeah.." I hate this as I said. It is kind of intimidating.
" He's working in Risk Management for Swiss Re."
"Damn! WHat The...what is he? A Harvard bred or what?"
"He's an Mtech from IIT Kharagpur."
"Oh..wow...what's your full name though?"
"Ramm Iyer"
"ohhh.. you southies are always good at studies na?"
I honestly didn't like that statement. Made me look like i'm a member of some bookworm club. I said nothing...just nodded my head.
"Is that your guitar?" She asked moving over to the Godin LG Guitar on my wall. It's black body perfectly blended with the off white colour of the wall.

"You play as well? Ya aise hi dikhawa hai?" She asked me smiling. That wa s a cue. I had to show off something. Something to make her stay.
"Does the beautiful lady have a special request that I can try and play?" I said stylishly taking the guitar in position.
"Hmm..let's see..WORDS? That It's Only Words..Song?"
"Perfect...and couldn't ask for a more beautiful moment and woman to inspire me to play"
She blushed. I hit the right spot. I just had to play it well now. Pun intended!
What she did not expect was that I was also a pretty good singer. Again, I was just good enough to represent Xaviers in some Solo or group music events, but nothing bigger than that. I coull see she was impressed, and with every string i pressed down, I could sense the temparature of the room going up. Every chord I played struck a chord between us. She moved on the bed she was seated. I was familiar with that. She managed a smile on her face and pretended to listen with rapt attention...But I knew her mind was lost. And I prayed I occupied the space of her thoughts.
When I was done, I put the guitar away as she put her hands together in ovation. I moved closer to her- very casually as if nothing was intended. I walked up close enough to feel her perfume intoxicate me. Our eyes met again, but she looked away, then down, and looked back at me. She didn't want to face me, cos that would flush her face even more.
" I deserve more than just a round of applause Riya, Don't you think?" This time my hands were on her shoulders, holding her firmly. It was strange that I was so bold with a woman I knew only for a couple of days. Her eyes met mine. Before we knew, I tasted her lipstick and was exploring her tongue.Electrifying was the word! My hands had now moved up to her face.
She broke the kiss suddenly and just stepped back...still panting..
"I..(puff)..AM ..s.ssory! I ..I just...I..Don't..uh..huh..."
I sensed from the way she kissed back this was not her first. Maybe it was the speed of the developments of the evening. I had to think of something. One thing I knew was I couldn't let her go.
" Riyyaa...it's ok...fine..just sit down, will you please?"
"Ramm, I..I dunno...I..."
"It's fine... You need water?" I said handing over a bottle in my room. "Let's just watch TV ok? Relax."
" Ok..I think that would be good."
I switched on the TV even as I hung up my guitar back on the wall. I got back up in bed, careful not to scare her, but trying to place myself reasonably close to her. It by default showed up the last viewed channel, but it was something I was not interested in. I didn't try and see who won the pole position for the race tomorrow. I immediately flipped channels and switched on Star Movies.I was hoping there would be some action out there- and I obviosuly didn't mean the ones starring Stallone or Schwarznegger.
Much to my delight, HBO was airing the Jennifer Grey & Patrick Swayze starrer Dirty Dancing at the time. While the movie is pretty neat, this time it was apt to cool the situation off; or rather otherwise dare I say.We hadn't missed much of the movie, and as such I didn't care much.
I was leaning on the pillow on the bed while she was leaning her back againt half of my pillow. I am not sure if she did this purposely, but I enjoyed the view of her arched back. I tried not to stare, but caught occasional glances at her. Every minute of the dance practise scene between "Baby" & "Johnny" sent the mercury levels soaring in the room. Riya struggled to sit straight. I looked at her and she looked back at me. No further words were needed to be exchanged.
Dirty Dancing had done its job. She kissed me on my lip gently first. Then she explored in greater depth as she laid her weight upon me. We kissed as if there was no tomorrow. Time just stopped for us..and time did not matter either. We were lost in passion ignited a couple of days ago. And We enjoyed being lost in each other's arms.
"That's sequin work you have on ur top and skirt, isnt it?"
" Yes..You like it?"
" Not really..."
"Oh..then what are you waiting for..?"
I didn't need any more invitation. My friend 6 Tonne used to say: "Laxmi aur ladki ke liye kabhi na nahi kehte." (Wealth and women are always welcome)
Within moments, the floor of my room was a mess, what with clothes strewn around. I raised the volume of the TV, lest the neighbors hear us! We were sweating despite the AC being on-She smelled like a million roses. Her skin was honey smooth. The fullness of her lips ensured I don;t stay away from them for long. Her hair, though not quite smooth, smelled good. I was lost...Only this time the images from my fantasy land came true.
We lied down together on the bed after the act, and just gazed at the TV. We had no idea when it got switched off. We lay in absolute silence as we allowed the feeling of content to sink in.
"twas wonderful...I almost had a tear in my eye when I...Oh..Thanks! I can't tell you how I am feeling."
"Same here Riya.. Every moment is going to be cherished for a long time..."
We got closer, and gently kissed on the lips. Gentle turned into wild within seconds as I took control of her body this time. She didn't open her eyes even for a second, and that was a proof of just how good a time we were having. And definitely not regretting it.
We skipped dinner that night. I had my dessert though :)! The clock read 10:o Clock. And Riya was sitting on the edge of the bed, half dressed.
"Do you have somewhere to go?"
"No..just that Im feeling a bit cold..its 10, can we get up and have something? I'm hungry."
"Hungry for more?" I laughed out.
She hit me playfully with her skirt that she had in hand, "Chup! Chal Uth!" and she proceeded to the washroom. I got up and followed her in there. Forty-five minutes later, we both came out after brushing our teeth. Her skirt was in my hand.
We sat on the couch in the hall as we sipped onto coffee. "This has by far been the best day of my life sweety.." She said as I was playing with her hair.
Beep..Riya got up to fetch my cell phone. She read the message.
'Where are you yaar? I thought you would give me a call at least in the night! U missed the lectures again yaar, and i missed you..Call me..am at home now.'
"Is this Rain female your girlfriend?"
"What? No...What makes you think so?" I exclaimed as I snatched the phone from her.
"Well, the language of her message suggests so."
"No re baba...nothing of that sort. Saying this, I went to the bathroom to take a quick shower.
When I came out, she was all dressed. Except that her skirt still slid above her knee as she sat on the couch with her legs crossed. She walked up to me and hugged me. I didn't know how to react. Thi hug was more of an emotional one. And i wasn't ready for anything of that sort. She kissed me on the lips and said,
" Ramm, thanks for a wonderful night. and evening too. I hate to say this but i have to leave."
"can't you stay for some more time?"
"No sweetheart, but how about dinner together? Let's go to Khyber, what say?"
"Ok..sounds good" i didn't sound too excited. I got dressed up to drop her off. Another kiss, and hug later, We left the house. I dropped her at Churchgate. I saw walking off as I recapped the events of the night. I took my phone out and called Rain. Busy. I tried a couple of times more, and when she still was on another call, I just rode to her place.
FINAL Part Soon...

Wafa Ka Bewafa- One of my weird Love stories Part VI
I looked at the clock...I could barely open an eye, leave alone view and register things in front of my eyes. I felt like I had been hibernating for months. It was quite a few minutes before I could really make sense of the numbers of the clock. In my still semi inebriated condition, I managed to read.."ONe O CLOCK...".
Wait a minute...did i say O.N.E??...Oh THE HORROR!!! Its afternoon!! Christ! I sprung from my bed and looked around the house...Bridge was no longer in the bathroom. That's where I last saw him. No sign of Hanna (Haneefa) either.
"Abowoey! Kaghan hai Zabbbb? " I was still blabbering. Chivas speaking for me. I frantically looked around for them as if I were looking for some stolen Gold.
"Chilla kyu raha hai? Wash yourself...I'll make tea for you"
Rain! I rushed to the kitchen from where I hear her sound in the backdrop of utensils' cling-clang.
"you got so early? How?? and where are the others??"
"Early? Hello...its afternoon in India! We humans wake up in the morning...They went back home...Now, would you please wash your face and get a shower? U stink of alcohol.... Yuucckkkk!"
"Achcha? U slept with a stinker all night babes? Do you recollect?"
"I didn't sleep with you...I mean...We just slept on the same bed..oK..?"
"Oh..So you don't remember anything? Nothing of what we did?"
"Oye...DDLJ ke Shahrukh Khan..Im not Kajol ok...Now move your a** into the bathroom..Stinker!! Yucckkk!!"
"Ok Baba..Going..." It felt good to be in the hot shower after a crazy night that ate up my morning. I had tea soon after...Tea felt so good, bit by bit it helped drive away the headache pounding my head.
Me and Rain prepared lunch together..Simple dal and rice was all we knew to make. We were making the papads in the oven as we chatted.
"So, any evening plans?"
"Nahi yaar..Where I'll make plans.."
"Hmm..you'll come to Mahalaxmi with me?"
"Sure..no problem yaar!"
" And then maybe we can go for a coffee or something later on..something without which you can't live..."
"WHAT??????WHat did you just say?"
"What? I didn't say anything..I mean..I..."Poor thing was shit scared!
"Coffee? Oh Jesus! How can i forget? Rain....I am sorry, But i have to go .."
"On a coffee date?"
I just smiled, raising my shoulders making that face that i thought looked cute. If only Rain would have spoken about it otherwise.
"Ok...I will go with someone else.."
"Umm..can't we go like later..say tomorrow?"
"No..you carry on.."
The rest of the lunch we spent watching TV. It's the best way to avoid a conversation with someone you can't tell I don't wanna talk.
It was 03:30 in the afternoon. I started working out- on of the many passions I harbour. I wanted to make sure I look and feel best. I took over hlf an hour deciding which denim and Tees would go bets and show off some of my toned physique- I took a Jacket first, but then dropped the plan. Another few minutes over the watch and the glares I would wear. Not that I had a huge collection, but i had to choose from the two- three ones of each i owned. And the Azzaro perfume to top it all.
(whoever said men don't care much about the looks, I just proved to be a renegade. And I sure am not alone)
Not a single text from her. I was wondering who this friend of Riya's could be who is keeping her busy enough. I took the initiative this time- I sent her a text-' We are meeting at Mochas na?'It was 04:30pm, And I was all ready to go.
Beep....She texted back- 'Yes, will be there by 05:00'
So, here I was, glancing every minute at my watch. It was 05:25, and she still was nowhere to be seen. Frustrated, I put my head on my bike handle..Suddenly it dawned upon me. How will she recognise me? She didn't ask me how I look, or what I would wear for identification..Neither did I! Such a duffer!
I immediately called on her phone...Busy...Tried again..Busy..Then my phone (thankfully) popped her name- "Riya Calling"
"Hey! You reached? Where are you?"
" Im here, just near Mochas yaar..Where are you? What are you wearing? So stupid of us, we didn't even ask for identification.."
" Do you see a Red coloured Enfield parked near Mochas..?
'Hello? Riya?U hear me?"
I felt a tap on my shoulder just then. "Riya!" I exclaimed.
"Hi.." She was smiling. An her smile was as sweet as her voice was seductive. She wasn't one who would turn heads on the street- She looked pretty, bu nothing of the drop-dead gorgeous kind of material. She was wearing a black top with sequin work supported by strings that were tied by the neck. The black colour especially accentuated the fair skin of her body. She complemented her top with a knee length pink and blue velvet skirt with bewitching prints of floral motifs are heavily graced with sequin work. As I said- she was pretty, beatiful black eyes that were outlined perfectly. A nose that God perhaps stuck a bit hurriedly, but made up by lips that were full and the lipstick just made them appear more inviting.
"Finally we meet!" She said, breaking my gaze. She probably sensed I was checking her out. And why not?
Once inside the coffee shop, I was nervous. I didn't know what to start with.
"Strange Hai na? We accidentally talk over the phone, get to know each other and three days later we sit here in a coffee shop sitting next to each other!"
That's right. We were siting on the couch, not close enough to be in physical contact but not far either.
"It is Riya, If I never believed in chance- here's my time to rethink!"
"Hahaha..YEah..You better do...Things sure happen for a reason..
Neways, You doing BMS huh? Which year?"
"First Year"
She laughed out loud. I couldn't understand. What's funny about the BMS course. I tried to avoid it and casually asked.." What about you? How is your preparation for Board exams going on?"
She laughed out louder.Well, she had a pretty smile and good voice, somehow when you hear her laugh you feel the description was of an entirely different person!!
"What' so funny Riya?"
"You..You...(she was trying to speak whilst controlling her laughter..You..really..Thought I am in ..XIIth...hahah...and you still think so?"
She had just completed final year of Engineering,Mechanics- Awaiting calls from International B schools, she revealed.
"what??? Why?..I mean..." I realized she was right. Why would she give out complete information to a complete stranger?
" And you trusted me enough to come and meet me?"
"Yes..call it Madness if you will.."
"Anything else that you lied about? "
" No ya ... Now would you suspect evertyhng?"
"Sorry.." I said and sipped onto my Coffee of the Gods!
" No..Don't be..But know what? I am glad I had the gumption to come, cos you really seem to be the sweetheart I thought you might turn out to be."
Now when she called me sweetheart I felt like a kid. She was whole damn three years elder to me.So Embarassing! But the brighter side Was that an older (and perhaps smarter) woman loved my company so far and showed no sign of boredom.
'twas evening and getting dark. "Lets go for a ride on your bike. What say?"
She didn't have to wait for my reply- Minutes later we were on Marine drive- cruising along in my 350cc mean machine, with a delicate body that holding me tight.
An hour and a half later, we neared the gates of my residence.
"this is where I live"
"Here? Damn cool huh! You get an ocean view?"
"yup, from every room.."
"Sexy man!So exciting!"
"You wanna check out..anyways the evening breeze is really refreshing!
She thought long and hard even as my heart skipped a million beats.
"Umm..OK....No problem.."
"You can perhaps tell your parents you would be late for dinner."
"Hahahaha..Oh no my sweetheart! I dont live with my parents. I live with a room mate here..."
Her eyes met mine...The message was transmitted..Over and out!
Wait a minute...did i say O.N.E??...Oh THE HORROR!!! Its afternoon!! Christ! I sprung from my bed and looked around the house...Bridge was no longer in the bathroom. That's where I last saw him. No sign of Hanna (Haneefa) either.

Wafa Ka Bewafa- One of my weird Love stories Part V
"What The F**k! Kaun Thi Woh!! Ladke ke liye toh you won't leave me and go.."
OMG! Rain was animated. She's been my best friend since college started and we have been together for God knows how much time any given day. I helped her dump her previous pakau (but rich) boyfriend, while she gave me all gyaan about why NOT to fall in love (again!). All these years, I have never seen her animated over anything; Hell, She didn't care when her boyfriend, while still in relationship, danced with Janet- the hottest thing that walked in our college... And well, need I say they more than "just danced" while totally sloshed!
I recovered from the shock of her words...still confused...
"Arre..a friend of mine..Was talking about some fest.."
"Oh Really??....." now she had a wicked smile. The expressions on a woman's face can change just like weather in Mumbai.
" Haan baba... She wanted to know about our participation in Sydenham's Brouhaha..So I was .."
"Look, You don't wanna share, fine. Jhooth mat bol yaar!"
I Utterly hate women... :)
We talked about our own Fest- Malhar... Our treks and so on...One subject led to another...But Me and Rain are always this way- we can chat on almost anything under the sky; and fight over every thing we differ on!!!
Two Coffees, A chocolate Avalanche and veg wrap later,we were on my Enfield riding towards Rain's apartment.
"Bolna Ramm, Who was she?"
She didnt forget!!! This is rare! Rain never drags a topic, especially if there is no response from the other person.
"Will tell you later Rain..Right now, I have nothing to say!"
She just opened her eyes wider- Trademark Rain expression... She turned and walked away. As she entered the gates, and walked into her lobby, my eyes inadvertently followed her. Rain is beautiful, but She has always been my friend. So I never entertained any thoughts beyond friendship..till now I guess. I pressed the electric start key and rode of with the image of her beautiful body. Sh**! What was I doing? i knew it sounded gross from a friendship point of view- but I am after all just another guy!
As I entered the gates, I saw a Dad's car parked in the garage. Dad home early??? It's either a great moment..Or I'm screwed big time. As I exited the lift on the 16th floor, my fingers went numb while depressing the bell switch.
Thank God Mom was there! Dad was in the shower.
"What's going on?" I asked.
"Your dad has been asked to go to Frankfurt for Six months. He will be leaving tonight. I would be leaving with him as I have a valid visa and he needs my help there. Kanna (Tamil for my dear son), Will you manage all alone?"
"Oh...Ok...No Problem Ma, Will take care of myself." I made a sad face trying to hide my excitement! This was the golden moment I was waiting for. My dad was a Saddam Hussein! Don't do this..Don't go out with them...When will you study...And frequently showered me with 'good for nothing', 'leech on my money' kinda adjectives.
It was soon late night. I accompanied Mom and dad to the airport. The Lufthansa flight was on time, much to my delight. I would miss Ma though! I hugged her tight before they proceeded for immigration, while I just shook hands with Mr Vishwanathan.
It was a long drive back home, but not so often would Dad give me his C- Class to drive. I ordered a Pizza on my way home. I was sitting cozily in my chair watching the movie 'Cocktail'. The movie blended well with the Chivas Regal in my glass.I heard the bell ring- Pizza's here! I tipped and went back to my drink even as I hungrily munched on the Garlic Bread Exotica.
"Har Ghadi badal rahi hai roop zinda.."P.H.O.N.E !!!!!!!
I rushed to pick up the phone when I hurt my foot against the Ottoman stool. In my excitement, I picked up the cool the moment I saw Riya's name flashing on the screen. My Answering coincided with the loud shout I gave out- "O.U.C.H...AAh!!"
"Hello, Riya?"
"Am I disturbing you?" Damn! Even if she would have been, what fool would turn down this mellifluous voice.
"Aah..Noo...I ..I just.." My foot still hurting making it difficult to speak.
"Is some one there with you? I Mean.."
GOD! No! The noises she heard must have led her to paint an entirely different picture!!
"NO No NO! I just hurt my foot yaar.."
"Owww! You tried to put in your foot? LOl"
Zapped yet again!
"anyways, tell me,what's up?"
"Nothing yaar, I just came back from the airport. Had gone to see off mom dad..Was enjoying my whiskey and now you voice is doing the trick"
"Haha..you have your way with words huh? So, where have they gone? Why have they gone? "
"Dad's going for a project from his company to Germany. Mom just thought 6 months is too long, so it would be best if she accompanies him."
"Wow! How cool! Germany!! Big man your father is kya?"
"yeah (I hate this part, cos it makes me feel insignificant)"
"Hmm..Matlab...you are totally alone at home now? (giggles again)"
"Hmm..yeah....But honestly I won't mind company, you know?"
" Im sure...Why should I join you, Duffer!"
"When did I say I wanted you to come"
"Don't be cheeky Ok? ".....Long pause..."I was thinking..Ramm.."
I don't know what the hell made e say this, but talk of being fortuitous! I interrupted her by saying "...We should meet?"
Silence. I wasn't sure now if I went overboard. Somehow, the silence seemed to last till eternity. Like the moments when the girl takes eons of time to respond to a proposal. Finally, and much to my relief, she broke the silence saying:
"YESS! It's almost as if You read my mind sweety!I..I just felt..we have been talking, I don't know much about you and just meeting you is a risk. But something within tells me I can take that risk with you. I don't know how you look and don't care- just wanted to meet this new found strange friend.."
Oh..I so love to hear her speak..Seductively low and sweet..Her voice sounds like the water spouts at the fountain..Bad Simile! Sorry!
"Riya...How about tomorrow? I can bunk the lectures; we can go out for lunch, coffee or dinner...maybe all?" Oh! I know I was sounding a like a weasel!
"Ramm..Let's meet for coffee? I have to meet a friend in the afternoon."
"Sure..No Worries...Ohh..by the way? Where do you live? I can pick you up."
"Umm..No need sweetheart, I will ask my friend to drop me. I would be in Grant Road in the afternoon, where do you think we should go?"
"Mochas? Churchgate?"
"Perfect- See you there dear..Byee.."
"Uhh..Riya..."
"hmm..What?...Tell me...?"
" Nothing..cya! Byee"
I hung up. I was about to ask her about the "friend" she was to meet. Who could that be? I didn't ask lest I'm labeled as possessive- possessive over a female he hasn't even met!
I sat there with the Chivas glass in my hand, thinking about tomorrow's meet...Just then the doorbell rang! I saw my watch- it was 11:00. Who could it be at this hour? Was Mom and dad's flight canceled? Oh..I just walked slowly to the door even as the bell rang twice in the interim.
"SURPRISEEEE!!!!"
I was shocked..Rain, Haneefa and Bridge (aka Brijmohan Sharma) out there with a bottles of whiskey and some 'chakhna'.
Bridge got to know mom dad are leaving because he called up at home and my innocent Mom told him everything. And here they are, spoiling my night. I was enjoying washing my throat down with bourbon whiskey and the thought of Riya.
We must have have been drunk enough that night to give the make of HANGOVER a greater idea. Haneefa was the first to pass out as she lay down on the carpet, as if some warrior princess Xena lay there after a long battle. Bridge was as usual his stupid self..He slept in the bathroom with his head resting on the commode. This time, I didn't move him.Rain could barely walk, but at least she could talk something gibberish.
I don't remember what happened later on. I woke up around 05:00am- three hours after everyone passed out-only to find I was in the same bed as Rain- No, we were clothed and no sign of having played any mischief. But i breathed in her beauty even as my head ached from the night's craziness. She wore a tank top and a printed skirt. God must be proud he created a masterpiece in her. Suddenly realizing what I was doing, I just moved away from her, and tried to sleep on the other side of the bed.
BIG Day tomorrow...

Wafa Ka Bewafa- One of my weird Love stories Part IV
Wafa Ka Bewafa- One of my weird Love stories Part IV
Today it might seem utterly amateurish to look back and think of all the things I did. I cannot say I lost my sleep over the message Riya sent me, but till I reached the REM stage of sleep, I remember thinking only about the message and its possible intentions. How much farther will this go? Even bigger questions was how much further did I intend to take it.
Next morning I got up earlier than usual- At 08:30!! The first thing I did immediately after my morning chores was to take the cell phone in hand and check for messages/calls. But it came as no surprise my cell phone showed only one message from my friend Renu.. ' Today's lec was very boring man! Good you didn't come...but would you coming to coll na for some TP?...P.S Teejay is gonna take Miss Ooh La La for a movie..LOL'
Rain..urf Renu was my best friend. One of the many we normally have in college. A message from her comes as no surprise. So I just went to my inbox and opened the message from you know who. Somehow, it gave me pleasure beyond human comprehension just by taking a look at Riya's message. "Sweetheart"- the word kept ringing bells in my ears..violins rather! I was lost in a trance thinking of the events that unfolded in my life yesterday. I couldn't still believe whatever happened did actually happen to me.It wasn't a dream I know though- I still see the message in my inbox.
I decided I will text her back...Perhaps a sweet message. So I frantically searched for some good messages from friends to forward to Riya. I hit upon one sent quite a while back by Rain. It read
" When the message is sent from a distance, you cannot see the face or the smile, But only sense the love and care that has for you traveled the miles."
I kept my thumb finger on the Send option for at least five minutes. Every moment, trying to calculate the repercussions of sending this message. She might really like the fact that I'm reciprocating. Or she may back off feeling the guy is now interested. The latter, I admit, is almost every guy's fear when wanting to make a move. Women, to us men (boys included), are arcane- Like some calculus problem.
Message Sent. I was curious to know if she would read it now. Would she respond immediately? What if she doesn't? 'Oh Damn! I should have included a leading question in the message; that would have increased my chances of a reply', I thought. So I switched on the TV and was watching an old NBA LA Lakers Vs Bulls match. I must have checked my phone at least 6 times while watching the match. Still no reply. I checked the Delivery reports- it read delivered. Now This added to my curiosity. I had o move the hell outa here I decided. I started my Enfield Electra and vrrooomed my way to college. Biig risk! My mind was not once on the rear view mirror or the Pandus in hiding.
"Lets go.."
"Where? Mochas? Baad mein.."
"Rain..just come..i need to have some coffee...else my midn will blow up"
I said and checked my phone again. Blank....
Rain wouldn't say no to anything. So here we were in the No Smoking zone of Mochas...sipping onto a Brazilian brew and occasional dips into Chocolate Avalanche. It seemed more like a Silence zone as we didn't speak a word since we entered.
"Ab bata, what's wrong? "
"Kuch Nahi...Wanted to have coffee ya"
"Abe Nautanki...You kiddin me or what? I even know the brand of the underwear you wear..hahahaha.."
"RAIN..SHUT UPP...." I knew she was trying to get me to talk..crack a light moment..But..
"Har Ghadi Badal Rahi Hai Roop...." That was my Phone..I jumped to see who it was, but i didn't know the number. I let the phone lie on the table..couldn't care much..Rain picked it up and said" Helloo"
"Cut kar diya...I dunno..No one spoke... oh...here's the number calling again"
No one spoke? and somebody cut after listening to her voice...I was trying to put two and two together..HAS TO BE HER!!!
"arre...." Rain exclaimed as I snatched the phone from her..moved away and answered the phone...
"apne liye female bodyguard rakhi hai kya tune Saale? hahahah"
I was zapped at how she manages to be witty every moment. I was thinking of a response, but obviously couldn't think of any with Rain staring at me WIDE EYED.
"Ahh..Noo..She's my friend yaar.."
"Girlfriend hai kya? Nahi Na"
"Before I could formulate a reply, she continued;" And even if she is, BIG Deal! As if I CAre"
The 'As if I care' sounded very sarcastic. Jealousy....one of the main reasons why women use sarcasm in their conversation with their men.
" No re baba..She is not. tell me, Wassup?"
"Nothing..."
" Am surprised, you were so talkative till last night, ab kya hua?"
"I am more active in the night you see...lol" Boy! She's witty isn't she!
"That's good to hear, assures me I am not the only one!"
"Ramm...Isn't this strange? You and I..talking so comfortably, and we know each other since just yesterday..."
I didn't reply. I couldn't- Rain was asking me a million questions through her eyes- I just came out of the shop to get some fresh air.
"Oye hero! U there?"
"Oh..sorry..There was some network problem" Ya, the kind where two networks got entangled!
"Ramm, I honestly don't know why I called you now. It's as if something asked me to.. Really strange! I wanted you to know so you don't have any misconceptions about me."
Kiddish one moment..Mature in the other..I was feeling I as talking to two women at one time..
" I must be honest too Riya, I was expecting you would call.."
"Why? Couldn't you just call me?"
I didn't know what to say. There was nothing I had to say. Guess she understood my silence and its implied answer.
" MALE EGO.." She sighed. I so hate women. They ask a question they have an answer to, and would know the man will not have an answer to!
"Neways Ramm, I need to get back. Talk to you later...Bye.."
Did the phone get cut or did she hang up? Weird! No desserts??!! No Sweetheart/ sweety whatever? I think I offended her. But calling now wouldn't help. Will check later. I looked at the call duration and realized something..07minutes..I left Rain inside...All alone...
I rushed inside Mochas...

Part V soon...

Wafa ka Bewafa- One of my Weird Love Stories- Part III
Wafa ka Bewafa- One of my Weird Love Stories- Part III
It was late in the evening. yes, the match did help to divert my attention...and the fact that India was winning was just added advantage. Trnng Trrrnnngg...every time my landline rung, I ran like a kid towards the receiver- the way I ran when we first bought home a telephone. Those days calls were rare and every phone ring brought cheer to everyone at home. Only that it had been 9 years since that period, and I was experiencing the same childish joy in answering calls. The difference was just that this time, I was expecting a particular caller- one that would say "Hel'low.." One thought led to another and soon my creative brain started cooking up images of the woman I have never seen before. Would she be older than me? Could be she's some sort of a pyschopath who got her hands onto a phone. But she didn't seem insane even by the wildest assumptions. No, she couldn't be crazy..maybe just immature- someone who doesn't have a lot to do.
Time doesn't pass by when you want it to pass the most. But out here, I didn't even know what i was waiting for! She never said she will call in an hour or after dinner. She said nothing...Oh..except that she would love to hear from me. Did she just drop a hint that I must call her? The thoughts clustering every pea sized cell in my brain, making it even more difficult for me to think clearly. Maybe calling her would calm me down..I picked up the cordless, searched for that number from teh received calls..but, what do I tell her..what did I call her for? What if she assumes I am desperate...No.. Let her call..if she wants.. (bah! Me and my male ego!)
Your heart always controls your body, they say. No wonder, i still had the phone in my hand. "...Har pal yahan..Jee bhar Jeeyo..Jo Hai samaaaa... KAL HO NA HO" My Phoen ringing..My cell phone...how did she get my mobile number?? I rushed to my bedroom and threw the pillow away under which my phone was partially buried (it's a guy's room after all!"
"6 Tonne Calling" was the display of my phone. Dejected would be an understatement. I was expecting.. Oh! By the way,6 Tonne was Chetan, my best friend since childhood. We grew up playing cricket together..
"Haan... Bol...!!" I finally answered, making my discontent obvious.
" Abey..what happened..Ashlesha again ditched you kya?"
" What do you mean ditched? She didn't ditch me, she had to go out with family last week ok?"
"Ya ya, but what the f**k is wrong with you? You seem as if ur childhood sweetheart just ran away with another guy!"
I said nothing. I was already pissed off. (pardon the language!)
"Ok Ok, You coming to Leopold? Chal Sutta aur Vodka maarte hain...What say man!"
"Just leave me alone, will ya? bye.."I just dug my head in my pillow..and lied down..not trying to think about Riya. My mom was going to the neighbor's. So I was left alone..pun intended!!
The Phone was ringing...my head was aching...Did i doze off?? Oh..."The PHONE IS RINGING!!!" I shouted out loud with excitement. I rushed to pick up the call and answered" Huh! (pant).Helloow?"
"Itna Haaf kyu Rahe ho? What were you doing huh? hahahahaha"
'twas her. Her naughty self that has me hit wicket!
"Nahi, I was working out when you called..hence the panting noise.."
"Ooooh...work out and all huh?"
I felt she was ridiculing me..I wanted to retort, but some strange wisdom advised me from doing otherwise..Thankfully!
"So..What did you do now all evening?"
"Hmm..Nothing, I went out with friends..Phir Hukka..Coffee.and all"
"Oh.cool"
"You done with your work?"
"Work?" I asked..utterly surprised.
" You had some work na u said? Kya Jhooth bola tha mujhe? Saale!!"
None of my past 3 Girlfriends ever used any kind of abusive language with me- Never swore at me. But she caught me nonetheless!
"Uh..no..I'm done with it"
"hmm.. (Giggles)"
I fear this lady now. Either she is upto something or is outright crazy. What's tickling her now?
"Im sooooooo boreed!! (yawn)"
"bored? So soon? m sorry yaar i pakaoed you so much" Ha ha ha...very funny!!
" Arre tu nahi re sweetheart, bored of life..studies..studies and so on.."
I felt the tension build up again. Maybe she is free with her showering of intimate words, but the assumption didn't slow down my pacing heartbeat a bit.
"studies? What are you doing? I mean, what studies is bothering you dear? " [i couldn't believe i said that to someone I have talked to for juts 25 minutes!]
"XII Board exams!! So boring ya, i don't like these stupid stuff!"
[So now i knew I was dealing with someone just a year younger.]
"Say something.."
"Like...?"
" Anything..I just wanna hear your voice sweety! It is so soothing and romantic and sexyy (laughs)"
It's amply clear that this female wants to flirt, and has no intention to hide it! But I was feeling too much is happening too fast. I didn't know to be excited or worried. She could be the Police Commissioner's daughter for all you know! Somehow, the danger and abstractness inherent in this conversation hit a sweet spot! I was giving in to the situation and being reactive now.
"No match to that of yours dear" I was digging a hole... Hoping i don't dig beneath my own feet!
"LOl...Achcha..by the way, do you have a cell-phone? Or are you happy with me calling on your landline?"
She made the move I wanted her to make... "sure..my number is 99******07"
"FYI.. you can call me too if you want, mere duffer! Chalo..i got to hang up...family calling for dinner!"
"Ohh..Ok..No worries.catch ya later.."
"Byee sweety.." And she hung up.
Whew! That was something... Did I go too far? No, I think I just reciprocated. If she is immature, one year older makes me no better candidate myself.
I just sat in my bedroom... The cool sea breeze blowing in the room and onto my face, I was just staring at the dead black sea from my bedroom.
"Ding DOng!" That must be dad- he will never use the key, always expect mama to be home and open the door for him. Sometimes I feel he treats Mom no different than the employees in his office.
Mom heard the bell and rushed home..Mom and dad talked about something- bet Dad must have asked a million questions over why was she at the neighbor's this late. My "Family" was about to sit for dinner too. I was feeling full- the conversations were being replayed over and over again. Something about the whole incident felt good. Unbelievably true... My cell-phone battery was low , so I picked it up to put it for charging.
"1 Message Received"
My heart skipped a beat at the screen.. could it be her? Why Do I want it to be from her? Why was I so desperate??!! As I clicked the Read option in my Nokia 6600, I waited for the large screen to throw up a name I saved just this evening. My mind was running a million permutations to throw up one single possible option the message could contain. And I didn;t even know it was from her..but somewhere I felt it...
The message read as :

I knew that very moment what began as a misunderstanding today would culminate into something bigger than I had imagined. But I could not even presage what was in store for me...
To be continued....

Wafa ka Bewafa- One of my Weird Love Stories- Part II
Wafa ka Bewafa- One of my Weird Love Stories- Part II
[Please read Part I of this story before reading on this one]
I knew something was wrong. At least not what happens in everyday life to the guy next door. I said " Hi, Whose this?" I could see the caller ID flashed a number I just dialed. I knew it was her even if Ms "Hel'low" wouldn't have spoken a word.
"Exactly what I want to ask you- Who is this?" She asked, and this time she dropped any accent.
"I Said My name is Ramm and I by mistake dialed your number."
"Chal Na yaar, bata kaun hai- Aarif?"
"I am not Aarif or anyone you know. Please- this is a mistake".
I will be honest here. The voice was seductive. I had no intention of goofing up an opportunity coming my way, but I had to play it right...and safe...
"Well, I thought I recognise this voice- very sweet and you know..(giggles)Anyways.."
"What's your name though?"
"Why would you want to know?" She knew now she had me.
"well, I told you my name..what could be the harm?"
"Riya"
"Riya?"
"Sunai nahi deta hai lagta hai janab ko!" (giggles again)
I had fallen for it. She laid a trap that could have been only laid by a woman. I was now curious to know the mystery woman.
"Inge cheekram vaa..Paaru paaru six eppudi aduchaan!" [ Come here quick! See how he hit a six!] My mom was calling from the other room. I was so immersed in the chat that I forgot about the match.
"Kahan Kho gaye Aap?" I didn't know what to speak. The problem with me- many guys actually. We imagine such fortuitous moments of meeting a adorable woman, the way we would talk to her, greet her, tell her things she would like to listen. But when the moment arrives, we are blank- Utterly blank!
" Main toh aapki aawaz mein kho gaya tha!" (yawn) I cant believe I said that.
'Well, I must say, you really have a good voice huh!" Now she's flirting..or did i start that..
"So...Tell Me.." she continued.
"What.." Oh...you dumb a**!
"Kuch bhi...something about yourself..wat do you do Ramm?"
"Well..its kinda strange.. I don't even know you well.."
"darr gaya kya? lol"
'Kya kar raha hai, mard ban- Be a man!' Aamir Khan's DCh dialogue still fresh in ma mind, I said " Darr? Aur Mujhe? Bull crap! To answer your question, I am doing my BMS from St Xaviers."
"ooh..Xavierite and all...(giggles again)" One thing I hate about gals, they giggle over silly things they think is funny. And not a single one of the reasons of their stupid giggles, gossip laughter have I ever been able to comprehend!
"Ya ya..U say..what do you do?" Sh**! Shaadi ke interview hall mein baitha hai kya! No point- Life doesn't offer CTRL+Z!
"Hmm..humhmm...laa.laa..la.." [ FYI KAL HO NA HO tune]
"Hey..ur humming a song to reply? sry, but i don't think i quite follow that language!"
"Tumne toh kaha ki u like my voice? Ab what happened?"
I am dealing with a very smart lady here, i thought. She knows how to dodge questions.
"aawaz toh ab bhi pyaari hai, but wud like to hear u talk "mademoiselle!"
"Mademoiselle?"
"French- for b'ful unmarried women"
"how do you know I am beautiful"
" So I am wrong in saying that?"
"I Didnt say so..."
"neways, Riya..It's my pleasure talking to you- But I have some really important work to tend to..can we...umm..talk later?"
" Am I boring you? "
Oh No..Not at all...just..I had some work" My peers had taught me once, you wanna win a woman, show her she's important and then not so important..play the game back and forth..
"Call you later sweety...buh bye...love to hear from you soon.."
"Buh-by.." She hung up. Did she just say sweety? I have had affairs before, but one hour of phone conversation with an absolute stranger and she calls me sweety.
I dunno, but I had some kind of tension building up...not the worry wala tension u see..
I went back to the match... Tendulkar was already out...and for the first time, my mind was not on Tendulkar or the match- My mum thought im upset as usual cos y Tendlya was out! It was me who was out...CLEAN BOWLED.
Next Innings...Soon...

Wafa ka Bewafa
Wafa ka Bewafa- One of my Weird Love Stories- Part 1
Just out of the blue, sometimes strange memories hit you. Memories- good or bad- from the past come back to please or you or haunt you. Weirder are situations where you don't know how to classify them! Well, I just encountered such a situation not very long back.
Last Sunday, I was siting at home in the evening. At around 04 in the eve, sipping onto a cuppa coffee, I was letting the feeling of holiday sink in sip by sip. One of the days when i sip onto coffee staring at the lovely green trees out of my window. Rather than the damned systems or one of the hundred thousand mails. It was while looking over these trees that I had made that call six years ago- 2003...
India Pakistan match was on, I remember vividly, less for the match and more for this dramatic incidents that unfolded that evening. I used to take tuition for a class X student (well, he did fare well-Thank God). On account of the match, I decided I would cancel the tuition for the day. And I made "him" a call. If I had not lived that moment and its aftermath,I would have never believed in such a quirk of fate. I dialed 07 instead of 04 in the number, and ..."It's the time to DISCO.." was the ring tone I heard. Not the usual ring tone my student has- well, it's maybe just me who doesn't have hello tunes to receive a caller. "Hel'low..??" A half accented voice answered the phone. This student had no sisters, and her Mom definitely was uneducated- faking an accent was not something she would do. I just answered in a very polite one- not wanting to offend the sweet voice- "May I please speak with Karan?" "Who's this?" This time the voice was curt, but still with the fake accent on.
Now a normal wrong number would end here. Apologies exchanged and brief or no goodbyes. I expected nothing different. But I had no clue something else was in the offing. " Umm..I think I might have got the wrong number..I am very sorry ma'am to have bothered you, Non...." "Please tell me who is this?" First, she cuts me..an anonymous caller..and demands that I say my name. What is this about? Did I call the sister/ wife/ daughter of a notorious gangster or something? Who also incidentally ahs a sweet seducting voice? Maybe the Commissioner or any high ranking officer's relative. Whoever she was, she demanded I say my name. Well, now that cannot really be a big deal right?
"My name is Ramm. And as I have said, I apologise for the inconvenience I caused.." "Arre batana, who is it?Jayesh? What masti you are doing man!" OMG! She thought I was some friend playing a prank on her!! "Listen Ma'am, There seems to be a misunderstanding- I have dialed the wrong #, and I really don't know you. For Christ's sake I don't even know your name. sorry to disturb you this way- it was just an accident" It sure was- One hell of a prank played by the Master of Puppets Himself. "okies (the accent reappeared)..No Probs.."
No Goodbye, No Nothing- Typical. Oh, I forgot about the match. Never have I left Tendulkar's innings this long. Trrrnnnngggggghhhhh! Dat was my door bell. I rushed to get it, only to find my student at the door. I wore a confused look on my face as to why was he here. "i had called you and.." OOps! It wasn't him I called... And it wasn't him I talked to :). So now I had to think of a quick excuse- I couldn't have afforded to miss apna Tendlya ka innings. "Karan, I must go out in an hour's time to some place and it is indeed urgent. Do you mind if we postpone our class to Monday?" i know his heart must have jumped at the thought of no class- which child likes classes! So I managed him out and got back to see the match with my Mom (who's a big cricket fan). My landline rings.. Dad usually doesn't call from office at this hour. I finally ran to the other room to pick up the call.A voice answered,"Hel'low..."
Same voice...Same Accent..I could hear Shahrukh Khan Of Dil Toh Pagal Hai whistle the whistle of coincidence from the movie...

SONG OF LOVE
Here's my own little song of love..
I LOVE YOU SO MUCH
If you turn around and walk away
Pretending to see me never…
Without a glimpse of you
How will I live forever..
I love you so much…
That With Open Arms I’ll wait for u
I Love you so much,
That in my heart you’ll find always love for u,
I love you so much…
I’ll kiss the pain of death for you..
Don’t leave me so soon honey,
Lemme show you just how much I Love You!!
